First post of a first time writer

I just realized that in just a few short days I will be on the other side of the world, flying out on America's day of independence, an auspicious occasion to fly far far away from the country. I don't think excited is quite the word... it feels a lot more like fear, but hell that's a thin line isn't it? But as the date looms close I have been letting my imagination run wild with the potential adventures I'll be embarking on.
~blackwater rafting: whitewater rafting in a cave allowing no light but within which glow worms crawl along the ceiling creating the illusion of stars
~skydiving: freaking awesome; bungy jumpers can suck it
~cliff jumping: into water
~climbing Mount Doom: to attempt, as instructed, to extract the one ring from the fires of Mordor
~hitchhiking: only with my hunting knife in hand
~looking right, then left when crossing the roads: mandatory
~finding the most dangerous animal in New Zealand! Which is actually the ferret... an invasive that eats everything and is a pain in the arse for gardeners... though according to one website is the bee, in case you happen to be allergic, but even the bees seem more mellow in New Zealand
While all these things are super exciting and dangerous, my first big adventure is to catch all the connecting flights and find my place of arrival... and oh yea, get sheets for my bed.
